TIPS TO HELP

family formals is a traditional setup of the bride + grooms closest family. getting this many people together can be one of the more "stressful" parts of the day but here is how we can make it easy and fun.

WHO IS INCLUDED?
This is usually the bride & grooms closest family members (immediate family and grandparents / god parents).  If photos with your god parents or certain family members isn't important to you, than skip it or have someone take a photo of you with them on their phone/personal camera if the opportunity presents itself. It's that simple!

WHEN DO THEY ARRIVE?
Always have family arrive 10-15 minutes before we really need them! This gives them time to get to the meeting spot and even say their hellos! If you know someone needs extra time (always late, needs assistance), then tell them an even earlier time! No harm in them being a little early as we can always start with them too.

OTHER TIPS:
- When creating your shoot list, make sure you do combos that make sense in terms of removing & adding people. Consider people who cannot stand long or need assistance to do those photos first.

- You WON'T want to do a long list. Trust me! Think if it's really mandatory to do an individual shot with each person or not.

Full adventure sessions are one hour of exploring and fun. These sessions are about capturing who you really are and enough time to get a ton of great shots. This collection is great for families of 6-8 people, couples, commercial work, maternity shoots, newborn sessions and really great for families with small children. This could also be a great session for celebrating a birthday, milestone or maybe a styled shoot. Pets are also welcome in this session! Pest will need to be on leash but a majority of the time, I can photoshop the leash out. Hit the "book today: button above to ask a question or book your session! Weekends and Fall dates book super quick with me. If that is a time you'd prefer, please inquire early! Can't wait to chat!

Family Formals:

wedding day timeline that works.

how to create a

I'll be sending you the wedding day timeline google sheet that gives helpful "suggested" times for each event and already in a pretty common order. Feel free to edit, rearrange and delete as you see fit.

WHERE TO START?
When starting, put in all the times know KNOW and are nailed down (ex: ceremony & reception time are pretty common first steps). Next, work backwards based off the suggested times I gave! Other vendors like makeup/hair artists are also key to helping as to when/how long they think they need to complete your specific number of appointments. If you aren't having a certain event during your wedding - delete it! Nothing is too small to add. I want to make sure everything that is important to you gets done! If you have questions, message me! I'm always around to help.

EXAMPLE TIMELINE:
- Brides Hair Appt: 9:00am
- Brides Makeup Appt: 10:00am
- Lunch: 12:00am
- Guys Getting Ready: 12:30pm
- Bride In Dress: 12:30pm
- First Look(s): 1:30pm
- Wedding Party Photos: 2:30pm
- Family Photos: 3:00pm
- Break: 4:00pm
- Ceremony: 4:30pm
- Cocktail Hour: 5:00-6:00pm
- Guests Take Seat: 6:00pm
- Prayer: 6:15pm
- Dinner Served: 6:30pm
- Speeches: 7:15pm
- First Dances Start: 7:45pm
- Dance Floor Opens: 8:00pm

OTHER TIPS:
- Extra time is okay! At some point in the day we may run behind or get done quickly.. we can always move onto the next event when we are ready and some buffered "extra" time usually helps!

- When getting ready, whoever is helping you into your dress should have the first or close to first appointments to ensure they are dressed and ready by the time of the "Dress On" time.

- If you need your cocktail hour to be longer than an hour for some reason, I HIGHLY suggest giving your guests games and things todo while they wait. Also some apps or food to eat!

- Ceremony Time: 30 minutes is pretty common for a ceremony. Anything shorter is hard to move around to get a wide variety of shots (or any of peoples reactions). Also keep in mind of venues/church's restrictions for photogs. This could also limit how many photos we can take/move around.

- After the ceremony is over is usually when I am able to get reception room detail shots along with group/candid photos of your wedding guests. If you'd like a party bus shot, I can always jump on before you leave or after you get back. Just keep me posted and text me when you arrive back!
